Kentucky High School Football Scoreboard - Week 9
By Jeff Fisher
The High School Football Huddle
With lots of firepower at the top of Kentucky 6A classification, Boone County is hoping that it can just keep improving and get a shot at either St. Xavier or Trinity in the post-season. Friday night Boone County, ranked #3 in the lastest Associated Press Class 6A rankings, beat Ryle 28-14 to clinch a top-seed for the playoffs. It was a big night for junior running back Charles Quainoo, who carried 53 times for 306 yards. The Kentucky record for carries in a game is 57 set by Jeremy Britt of Warren East back in 1997. St. X Blows-Out Trinity
By Jeff Fisher
The High School Football Huddle
A record-crowd of 38,872 watched St. Xavier (Louisville, KY) dismantle defending 6-A champ and nationally-ranked Trinity 30-6 Friday night. Even though USA Today had Trinity ranked #21 this past week, St. X entered the game as the #1 6-A team in the state.
Before Trinity fans get to feeling too upset at the loss, the last two times that St. Xavier won the regular season match-up (2005 and 2007), the Shamrocks rebounded and beat their arch-rivals in the state championship game. This year, the two won't be able to meet in the state title game, but could face-off in the state semis.

#23 Highlands Loses to Red-Hot Colerain (OH)
By Jeff Fisher
The High School Football Huddle
Cincinnati Colerain (3-0) may be the hottest team in the country after its third straight impressive win. Friday night the Cardinals took down Highlands (#23 USA Today Super 25), Kentucky's defending 5A champ 33-18.
In what is considered a rebuilding year because of the loss of 18-starters from last year's squad, Colerain has now beaten two nationally ranked teams (St. Xavier #18, Highlands) and western Pennsylvania power McKeesport.

Trinity Hits the Practice Field Thinking About Bluegrass Four-Peat
Trinity's run for a fourth straight Kentucky Class 6-A title will rest on the right arm of senior quarterback Cameron Smyth, who has some big shoes to fill. Smyth and the Shamrocks hit the practice field this morning as practice began across the state of Kentucky.
Smyth takes over for Will Stein, who led the Shamrocks to the schools 18th over Kentucky high school football championship while throwning for 3,697 yards and 54 touchdowns. Head coach Bob Beatty also has to replace wide receiver twins Nathan and Alex Dutton, who were the team's top two pass catchers. On the good side, the other two starting receivers from last year's squad, Scott Radcliff and William Leach are back.
Trinity finished 13-2 in 2007 and ranked #23 in the final USA Today high school football rankings.
